So much of Criminal Minds: Evolution is dark and dangerous but, in this week’s, “Requiem” episode, the BAU team takes time out to mark a milestone in the life of Jennifer ‘JJ’ Jareau’s (A.J. Cook) TV son Henry LaMontagne, who just happens to be played by A.J.’s real-life son Mekhai Andersen.
It’s a surprise party for Henry, who’s off to Hallridge University in California, but when JJ, Henry and Phoenix enter Penelope’s (Kirsten Vangsness) apartment, they don’t seem to be surprised.

“Your cars are around the corner,” JJ’s younger son, Michael LaMontagne, who is played by Phoenix Sky Andersen, A.J.’s real-life youngest son, says when (Joe Mantegna) accuses JJ of having revealed the surprise.
To which Penelope replies, “Can we work on our not-at-work stealthiness?”
Both boys’ father is A.J.’s husband Nathan Andersen.
Then there’s a hanky-necessary moment in a conversation between JJ and Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster).

“Spence told me that he’s happy for Henry, but he can still make that call to Cal Tech, you know, if he changes his mind,” JJ says, referring to Matthew Gray Gubler’s character, Dr. Spencer Reid.
“You have a lot to be proud of,” Emily tells her. “You know who we’re really here to celebrate, don’t you? You and Will.”
“It’s been a long road,” JJ responds, referring, of course, to having to raise her two sons alone since the death of her husband Will [Josh Stewart].
