ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Starting off this morning very comfortable with temperatures in the low to mid 60s, clear skies, and light winds. Fog will be creeping up from the Southern Tier into the Finger Lakes but should dissipate a few hours after sunrise.
Today the temperature and humidity will be rising with highs in the mid to upper 80s and dew points in the low 70s, giving a noticeably muggy feel to the air. Heat index values will be in the low 90s. Plenty of sunshine in the morning with a few clouds forming in the afternoon. There will be some scattered showers popping up in the Southern Tier and FLX this afternoon, and some of these showers could include a rumble of thunder, but they won’t be that big or last that long or be that strong, so we’ll keep it Green on the Threat Tracker. Tonight will be partly cloudy and muggy with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Tomorrow we are tracking the arrival of a cold front which will bring with it chances for thunderstorms. Right now the front looks to be crossing over during the later afternoon/early evening, but that timing is subject to change. There is a marginal risk of an isolated strong to severe storm, and we’ll be tracking this threat very closely. Still Green on the Threat Tracker for now but something to keep in mind. Otherwise tomorrow will be mostly to partly sunny, warm and humid again with highs in the upper 80s.
Shower chances persist Friday morning and afternoon with highs in the low to mid 80s, but this weekend is looking absolutely fantastic behind the cold front. Temperatures at or slightly below average, low humidity, light winds, tons of sunshine. Mother Nature is making up for the weather last weekend and then some. Make sure to get out and enjoy it.
