ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A bubble of high pressure to our west will keep us fairly quiet Wednesday and into most of Thursday. We’ll see a partly cloudy to mainly clear sky Tuesday night. At the same time, that will allow a bit of fog to develop, especially south of the Thruway by early Wednesday morning. Wednesday looks good with a mostly sunny sky and some fair weather cumulus clouds. There’s the slight chance of a stray shower, but most of the area will stay dry with temperatures in the lower to mid 80s.
We’ll start to see our rain chances going up a little bit by Thursday, especially into the afternoon. Moisture will build ahead of our next cold front, set to move in early Friday morning. There will be enough instability to produce scattered showers and a few isolated storms Thursday afternoon and evening. With the cold front expected to arrive Friday morning, that will reduce our chances of afternoon storms on Friday, and lower any risk for severe storms. So we’re staying “green” on the Threat Tracker.
At this point, our weekend looks pretty good, with a mix of clouds and sunshine both weekend days, and lower dew points. This means more comfortable air. At this early vantage point, the weekend also looks dry. We may start to build some heat and humidity back into the area by the middle of next week.
