Stephen Grahams new crime thriller gets release date confirmed with first-look images

Stephen Graham is back behind bars in a first look at Apple TV’s gritty new crime drama, Nocturne.

The upcoming 10-episode series, based on the bestselling novels Lazarus and The Sandman by Lars Kepler, will see Adolescence star Graham leading the cast alongside Liev Schreiber and Zazie Beetz in a thrilling race against the clock to solve a murder case.

As well as the new images, it has also been confirmed that Nocturne will begin on Apple TV on Friday 30 October.

In the story, Jonah Lynn (Schreiber) is an army vet turned homicide detective who moves to Western Pennsylvania for a quiet life with his family away from the tough urban world of Philadelphia.

However, he soon finds himself and his family in the crosshairs of twisted and “diabolically cunning” serial killer Jurek Walter (Graham), who has been tormenting the town.

Desperate to get him behind bars and protect all he holds dear, the synopsis reads: “When the desperate search for Jurek’s last missing victim forces Jonah to send his surrogate daughter FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Beetz) up against Jurek, how far will Jonah go?”

In first-look photos, Graham is seen standing behind a prison cell door, menacingly staring at Schreiber after locking him up.

Beetz’s Agent Bauer is seen in a second, standing in front of a wall of missing posters and newspaper clippings, presumably of those whose lives have been claimed by Walter’s reign of terror.

Rounding out the cast is Bill Camp (Presumed Innocent), Rory Culkin (Scream 4), Chrissy Metz (This Is Us), Poorna Jagannathan (Never Have I Ever) and Gary Carr (Death in Paradise).

The series has been created for the screen by Tin Star and Ballad of a Small Player writer Rowan Joffé, and will launch with the first two episodes on 30 October, before airing weekly through to Christmas Day.
