ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Yellow Alert posted this evening for isolated flash flooding has been removed as heavier rain subsides. It is important to note that the Flash Flood Warning for westernmost Livingston County into Wyoming County is still in effect until 9:15 p.m. as flood waters recede. Though we are still waiting on official rainfall totals across the region, radar estimates over 3 inches of rain might have fallen in portions of eastern Wyoming County. Rochester also saw its fair share of rain, though not as heavy, with radar estimations over an inch near Gates and Chili, as well as Webster.
Rain will continue to dissipate and become sparser through the rest of Monday evening. However, muggy conditions will extend into the evening with dew point temperatures hovering in the low to mid 60s. These dew points combined with air temperature in the mid to upper 60s overnight will make for a very moisture-laden, muggy evening with pockets of denser fog likely as well. Winds will not be an issue through Monday night as they are expected to stay out of the southeast around 10 to 15 mph.
Tuesday may start off cloudy and muggy with some spotty light rain throughout western New York. Expect patches of fog to also linger into the morning hours. However, most rain showers will move off to the east in the morning and clouds will start to thin out through the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures on Tuesday are expected to reach near 80 degrees. Tuesday night will bring quiet and partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low-60s. However, higher dew points will linger through the week, so Tuesday night is also expected to stay muggy.
A look ahead: Wednesday should offer some of the best conditions this week with sunshine and temperatures in the mid-80s. The next large weather system approaches Thursday night into Friday. We are monitoring this time period closely for rounds of thunderstorms. We will keep you updated on the developing thunder threat for later this week.
