Coronation Street airs worrying scenes as newcomer Idris Nazir shows his true colours in early ITVX release

The skeletons in Idris Nazir's (Junade Khan) closet are beginning to emerge in Coronation Street.

He's been on our screens for over a month, and despite being revealed to be Alya Nazir's (Sair Khan) cousin and a new romantic interest for Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), there's not an awful lot that we know about him.

At the time of his casting, producer Kate Brooks told Radio Times and other media: "He is very, very charming, the charm oozes out of every pore of this guy. He’s a savvy kind of business guy, he's got a bit of a ruthless streak, he is prepared to get his hands slightly dirty, and he can charm the birds from the trees.

"He's funny, he's handsome, and he ruffles a lot of feathers, but he's not without an edge."

She continued: "He’s not soft, and he's certainly no pushover. He butts heads with some of our more alpha kind of characters quite early on."

We've learnt this week that Idris leases a number of properties, and has recently acquired flat 4 at the Weatherfield Precinct – home to Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine) and son Alfie.

In today's episode (Monday 6 July), the youngster woke up struggling to breathe, and an ambulance had to be called. Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) realised that it would be quicker if he rushed the youngster to A&E, and Idris was alarmed to see him being carried out of the flat.

In the ICU, the consultant explained that it would be wise to keep him in overnight for further tests.

Meanwhile, Idris roped local teenager Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) into helping him sort some repairs on Abi's flat. They completed some moisture readings on the walls, and detected a sky-high reading in Alfie's bedroom.

After pulling away the bed, they found the wall was caked in mould.

Darting to the hospital, a guilt-ridden Idris tried to discover whether Alfie had come to any harm. A furious Abi lashed out, saying that it was his fault that her son was in such a bad way and may have pneumonia.

When Leanne and Alya explained to Idris that whoever he bought the flat from must have known about the damp, he made it his mission to hold them to account. Abi watched from afar as he directed Brody to bundle the previous landlord into his car, before driving off to some wasteland.

Brody was terrified by the situation, and made it clear to Idris that he didn't want to do that kind of work.

Later, Abi pulled Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) to one side and told her about what she'd witnessed. Sally returned home and noticed Brody looking shifty, and confided in husband Tim (Joe Duttine) about Idris's influence over their foster son.

Will Brody be able to escape Idris's clutches?
