One Piece fans looking for the next episode of the long-running anime series may be disappointed to learn that the show is on hiatus this week – but there's still reason to be excited.
While the global phenomenon takes periodic breaks to ease the pressure of production, this latest delay is also to allow breathing room to brand new spin-off One Piece Heroines.
Adapted from the light novels of the same name, which spotlight various female characters from the One Piece universe, the special puts Straw Hat navigator Nami at the centre of its plot.
One Piece Heroines premieres in Japan today, Sunday 5 July 2026, and on anime streamer Crunchyroll. And, if you were wondering, its Netflix launch is slated for Saturday 11 July. Watch the trailer here:

It's an exciting time to be a fan of Eiichiro Oda's fantastical saga, with Netflix's live-action One Piece recently celebrating the completion of filming on season 3.
Led by the infectiously enthusiastic Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D Luffy, the series has proven a hit with critics and fans alike, with an enormous social media following helping to boost its second chapter.
Of course, with the anime being north of 1,000 episodes, it's inevitable that the live-action counterpart won't get to everything in the Oda's manga and anime source material.
However, Oda has reportedly settled on a "specific arc" for the adaptation to reach before wrapping up, with co-star Mackenyu teasing that the "vision" for the ending has him "hyped" (via ComicBook.com).
