Many across the Chicago area will be celebrating the Fourth of July a day early, with several suburbs holding holiday festivities and displays on Friday.
Some locations have already held their holiday celebrations and others may be holding out for Saturday, but with Friday being a federal holiday, there will be no shortage of locations to check out.
Some suburbs will also be cracking down on unofficial fireworks displays in a big way, so sticking to the professional shows might be the best bet.

Friday, July 3
Aurora
Downtown Aurora will have its yearly fireworks on July 3, with the best viewing spots at the RiverEdge Park and McCullough Park. Fireworks are set to start at 9:15 p.m. this year. On July 4, Aurora will host its annual parade, starting at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Benton Street and Broadway Street.
Berwyn
Berwyn will display its fireworks at dusk at Morton West High School on July 3.
Bridgeview
The Bridgeview Park District will have its Independence Day Celebration at Commissioners Park on July 3. Fireworks will start at approximately 9:15 p.m.
Burr Ridge
The Burr Ridge firework celebrations will be at Walker Park on July 3. The Family Fun Area and food vendor activity both will start at 5:30 p.m. Fireworks are expected to light up at dusk.
Deerfield
As a part of the annual Deerfield Family Days, firework displays will set off at approximately 9:15 p.m. from Shepard Park on July 3. For July 4, Deerfield will have its Independence Day Parade, starting at noon. The parade’s route will begin at Deerspring Pool.
Glencoe
Festivities in Glencoe will span two days and will be amplified for the 250th anniversary. On July 3, fireworks will take place at 9 p.m. at Lakefront Park, with a party in the park at 5 p.m. and bike decorating at 2:30 p.m. at Wyman Green. For July 4, a parade will take place in Downtown Glencoe beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Lemont
Fireworks in Lemont can be viewed starting at 9:30 p.m. in Centennial Park on July 3. Before the fireworks, a celebration will begin at 4 p.m., with food vendors, a kids zone and student performances. A performance by the Whiskey Road Band will take place at 6 p.m.
Lisle
Firework displays in Lisle will begin at 9:30 p.m. in Community Park on July 3. A parade is scheduled for July 4 at 10 a.m. at Lisle Junior High School, followed by an annual ice cream social at 10:45 a.m. at The Museums of Lisle Station Park.
Lockport
Fireworks in Lockport will take place at dusk on July 3 in Dellwood Park.
Mokena
Festivities in Mokena will start at 4 p.m. in Main Park on July 3, with kids games, music and a food truck fest, followed by fireworks at 9:30 p.m. A parade follows at 10 a.m. on July 4 on Wolf Road and LaPorte Road and ending at Granite Drive.
Oak Brook
Fireworks in Oak Brook will form part of Oak Brook’s annual Taste of Oakbrook, with gates opening at 2 p.m. at the Village Sports Core Fields on July 3. Displays will begin after a drone show at 9:30 p.m.
Palos Heights
Palos Heights will set its fireworks display off at 9:15 p.m. on July 3 at Memorial Park. Day-long celebrations will begin at 10 a.m., with games, food vendors and live bands. On July 4, there will be a parade starting at noon on Harlem Avenue.
Palatine
Fireworks in Palatine will form part of the Palatine Jaycees Hometown Fest, taking place from July 2 to 5. Fireworks will be displayed at dusk on July 3 at Community Park. A parade will take place at 10:30 a.m. on July 4.
Park Ridge
Park Ridge will light up fireworks at dusk at Maine East High School on July 3. There will be a dance party at 6:30 p.m., followed by live music at 8 p.m.
