Where do Graham Foster's (Andrew Scarborough) loyalties lie in Emmerdale?
That's what former ward Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) wants to know, after discovering he'd been offering guidance to Dingle youngster Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn).
Earlier this year, Graham discovered that Kyle was the arsonist responsible for setting a number of fires on Emmerdale Farm. He had a number of motivations; mostly as an act of revenge towards Joe because he'd kicked his family out of their homestead, but also due to feeling hurt that his clan seemed otherwise preoccupied by their other dramas.
Dad Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) is battling prostate cancer, and with fears of upsetting his children with the developments, he was avoiding spending time with them.
Kyle was particularly hurt to see Cain choosing to help Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) move into a caravan rather than help him fix an old car that he'd been gifted. Desperate to be noticed, he set fire to the vehicle and was spotted by Graham.
In the aftermath, Graham convinced Kyle to join the local cadets group in the hope it would give him something to focus on. He also gifted him an expensive watch from his army days, something which was noticed by Joe this week.
He wanted to know how Kyle had obtained it, and was stunned to learn that Graham had willingly handed it over.
Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) had suggested to Cain that there might be something unusual going on, and he assumed that it had been stolen. After charging over to Home Farm for answers, he was stunned to learn of his son's recent behaviour.
Cain ordered Kyle to stay well away from Graham, saying that he had no idea of who he was, and that he was actually protecting his mum Amy's killer – Joe.
As viewers will recall, last year, Joe drugged Noah Dingle (Jack Downham), which caused a number of cars to fly onto a frozen lake and slowly sink beneath the water. Sadly, Amy perished in the incident.
In today's episode, Kyle raced over to Home Farm to demand the truth. He grabbed a gun from the sideboard, and aimed it at Joe. Graham and Kim Tate (Claire King) convinced the youngster that violence wasn't the answer, and sent him home.
Cain and wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) could see that there was something troubling Kyle, as he was visibly tearful and asked to go to his bedroom.
Back at Home Farm, Graham tried to reason with Cain for his behaviour, but things turned sour when he was ordered to be more of a parent. Cain issued a warning, saying that Kyle must be left alone moving forward.
Joe also had words with Graham, asking him to choose which side he was on.
What will Graham do?
