A man was arrested on Thursday after he allegedly sexually and physically assaulted three women in downtown DeKalb, including at a library and farmer’s market, police said.
Around 1:15 p.m., DeKalb Police Department received several reports that a man was physically and sexually assaulting a woman at the DeKalb Public Library located at 329 Oak Street. While several officers responded to the library, DPD also received reports a second woman was being assaulted on the street near the DeKalb Farmer’s Market, police said.
Officers then “saturated” the downtown area and the man, who was not named, was arrested while completely naked thanks to witness statements that led police to locate him.
Police identified three women who were sexually and/or physically assaulted in the downtown area. Two of them were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the other declined medical attention, police said.
The man was taken to a local hospital for a narcotic medical evaluation before he was released to DPD for pending criminal charges.
