Metairie, Louisiana, native Aidan Villars has signed to represent the Seminole men of Florida State University as a member of the 2026-27 season.
In his high school career with Jesuit High School, Villars collected four individual state championship titles, all of which came in his junior and senior seasons. As a junior, Villars picked up wins in both the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, touching in 1:51.15 and 48.54, respectively. In more recent results, this past November, as a senior, he repeated as champion in the 100 fly, touching in 48.09, while adding the 100 backstroke to his winning events, clocking 48.38.
Back in December, Villars competed at the Speedo Winter Junior Championship West, where he swam a career-best time in nearly every event he raced. His best event finish was the 200 fly, where he finished 11th in 1:45.81. He also earned a finals swim in the 100 fly, finishing 17th overall in 46.77, his first-ever sub-47-second performance. In addition to his butterfly success, Villars clocked his best time in the 50 free, finishing 46th in 20.58.

Based on Villars’ best times, he would have finished tied for 29th in the 100 fly, 29th in the 200 fly, and 42nd in the 100 back at those championships.
Villars is an enticing recruit, with very high-end speed and a pretty solid range throughout the shorter distances. His best times were just on the outside of scoring position for last season’s ACC championships, and he could very well find his way into those scoring finals as early as his first year with Florida State.
Having had his best times at these major meets is another big green flag, showing that he can rise to the challenge at these bigger meets and produce, which should benefit him going into a competitive conference like the ACC.
Villars will join Walter Zeman, Ryan Coughenour, Clay Magyar, and Anthony Pineiro in the incoming class for the Seminole men.
