The Indian cricket team makes two surprising changes in the playing eleven for the second and final T20I match against Ireland in Belfast.
Prince Yadav and Suryansh Shedge are all set to make their T20 International debuts today for the Men in Blue.
Prince Yadav was impressive against Afghanistan during the ODI series. The pacer who made headlines during the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) season with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) first made his ODI debut against Afghanistan. Now, he is all set to play his first T20I match.
On the other side, the emerging all-rounder, Suryansh Shedge, who played some crucial knocks for the Punjab Kings and then for the India A team during the tri-nation ODI series in Sri Lanka, was named in the T20I team as a replacement for the injured seam bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, earns his senior national cricket team debut cap.
Meanwhile, India won the toss, and the skipper Shreyas Iyer opted to bowl first. “Yeah, we’ve got two changes. Suryansh Shedge and Prince Yadav come in. Both are making their debut. So these are the two changes we’ve made,” Iyer informs at the toss.
Shreyas Iyer on Suryansh Shedge
As a cricketer of the Punjab Kings, Suryash Shedge has the experience playing under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. As the captain, Iyer also knows what the emerging talents could bring on the field to benefit the team.
At the toss, praising Shedge's batting skills, Iyer mentioned that the 23-year-old did well enough in domestic cricket, in IPL, and for the India A.
"He’s a powerful, destructive batter. Yes, he’s a sensational youngster who has been scoring runs in the domestic cricket and also in the IPL. He’s got tremendous amount of experience in the youth cricket. So definitely he’s performed in the A tours. So he’s getting, he’s reaping the benefits," Shreyas Iyer stated about Suryash Shedge.
Shreyas Iyer on Prince Yadav
The inclusion of Prince Yadav also looks very exciting on paper as the promising pacer has exerienced a massive surge in his career. Yadav has played a lot of T20s, but it is his first Twenty20 International for the national team, so the skipper is expected to utilise him more carefully.
"Definitely it’s his first game, so I don’t want to put him under that much pressure. It’s important that he comes out here and experiences and gain the experience out of what is there to offer. And he must have seen the match, how we played in the previous game. So definitely he’s smart enough to adapt to it.
