Tennessee football fans will be seeing their beloved Volunteers soon enough, with July almost here. That also means August is right around the corner and the start of the 2026 college football season.
In that spirit, Athlon Sports revealed its preseason All-American teams this week, and Tennessee had 2 representatives who will lead the Vols this fall as they try to become relevant in the 2026 SEC title discussion. The All-American honorees from Knoxville were defensive back Ty Redmond and offensive lineman Wendell Moe Jr.
Both should be used to being honored by now. After all, Redmond, a Georgia product who left the state to play at Tennessee, was a third-team All-SEC selection last season. It was a banner first season in Knoxville for Redmond, who registered 43 tackles, 25 of them solo, and 3 interceptions in 2025.
Athlon recognized Redmond’s immediate brilliance at the collegiate level and believes it will continue in 2026. The same thing goes for Moe, a California product who played the first 3 seasons of his collegiate career at Arizona before heading to SEC country and Tennessee in 2025.
Moe made his first season count in Knoxville, being named first-team All-SEC, and Athlon apparently sees no reason why Moe won’t duplicate his excellence this fall.
