Lions Terrion Arnold Arrested On Kidnapping & Robbery Charges, Being Held Without Bail

Detroit Lions player Terrion Arnold is facing multiple felony charges in connection with a robbery and kidnapping in early February. The cornerback was arrested on Wednesday, June 24, in Tampa, Florida, ESPN reports.

The Tampa police had previously arrested six individuals in the armed robbery that occurred on Feb. 4, with authorities saying Arnold was the primary conspirator. According to a release from the state attorney's office, he is accused of "coordinating and directing the codefendants" to "lure" the men to his apartment, where they were beaten and robbed in retaliation for an alleged theft that occurred in an Airbnb that Arnold rented in Largo, Florida, just a few days prior.

ESPN further reports that investigators discovered a group chat where Arnold and another "gave directions" to the others during the assault.

Arnold turned himself in to police and was taken into custody on Wednesday night. He is being charged with four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery, which carry a potential sentence of life in prison.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Thursday, June 25, that Arnold is being held without bail until the pre-trial detention hearing, which is scheduled for Monday, June 29.

"No one has the right to take the law into their own hands. A dispute over missing property does not justify kidnapping, violence, or retaliation," Hillsborough County State Attorney Suzy Lopez said in a statement, per ABC News. "This arrest is the result of months of investigative work and collaboration between the Tampa Police Department and our prosecutors. We will continue to pursue justice for the three victims by holding everyone accountable for their roles in this crime."

As for Arnold, he "categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence," as stated in a statement from Denise White, CEO of EAG Sports Management.

"There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations. Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences," the statement added. "Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the judicial process will lead to his ultimate vindication."

The Lions also issued a statement acknowledging that they are aware of the incident but are declining to comment "out of respect for the ongoing legal process."
