Chicago Bears right tackle Darnell Wright is coming off his best season as a pro. The University of Tennessee product missed just one game last season as he earned second-team All-Pro honors for his efforts. Before the 2025 season, Wright had established himself as one of the league’s better and more reliable offensive linemen. But his play last season bumped him up a notch and has him in the conversation to be considered the NFL’s best right tackle. And with Detroit Lions All-Pro Penei Sewell moving to the left side, there is a path for Wright to be the top dog at that position.
Should Darnell Wright fulfill that destiny, then his contract extension will be a doozy. And for what it’s worth, ESPN reports that the Bears would like to get an extension done with Wright before training camp. This is the second time in recent weeks in which Cronin has noted that Chicago’s front office would like to get a deal done sooner rather than later. Back in April, it was projected that a $25 million per year deal could satisfy both sides. Hopefully, the two sides are well along on their talks and can announce something this summer.
