Shafaq News- Tehran
Iran's chief negotiator and Parliament SpeakerMohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Thursday rejected US claims that Tehran had agreedto use unfrozen assets to purchase American agricultural products.
“The only crop we're harvesting is what you planted:decades of mistrust. It's organic, abundant, and homegrown,” Ghalibaf wrote, adding that the United States appears to export little beyond geneticallymodified “soybeans, broken promises, and empty words.”
America falsely claims our unfrozen assets will buy their agriculture. Interesting. The only crop we're harvesting is what you planted: decades of mistrust. It's organic, abundant, and homegrown. But apparently the US only exports GMO soybeans, broken promises and trash talks.
— محمدباقر قالیباف | MB Ghalibaf (@mb_ghalibaf) June 25, 2026US President Donald Trump had claimed the releasedIranian funds would be used exclusively to purchase American food and medicalequipment. However, Iran’s Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati rejectedthat assertion, saying the memoranda signed with Washington imposed no suchrequirement. Tehran, he said, could choose to use the initial $12 billion inreleased funds to buy US agricultural products if commodities such as corn andwheat were competitively priced and met the country's quality standards.
