Legendary guitarist Eric Clapton has been announced as one of the special guests for Buddy Guy’s highly anticipated 90th birthday celebration concert, set to take place at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on Oct. 1, 2026.
Buddy’s Got the Blues: A 90th Birthday Concert Celebration will honor one of the most influential figures in blues music history. The concert will bring together a star-studded lineup featuring artists from different generations who have been inspired by Buddy Guy’s work.
Buddy Guy shared the announcement with fans on Instagram, writing:
“We can’t wait to celebrate 90 YEARS of living, loving and playing the Blues with all our friends."
The English rock and blues icon has long credited Buddy Guy as one of his greatest influences. Over the decades, Clapton built a celebrated career as a member of The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith and as a solo artist.

The guitarist is widely regarded as one of the most influential players in rock history. He has won 18 Grammy Awards, sold more than 100 million records worldwide and remains the only musician inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times.
Clapton will be joined by an impressive list of performers during the milestone event. Confirmed guests include John Mayer, Jon Batiste, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, Aloe Blacc, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Clark Jr., Shemekia Copeland, Robert Cray, Samantha Fish, Eric Gales, Billy F Gibbons, Ivan Neville, Robert Randolph, Bobby Rush, Isaiah Sharkey, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jimmie Vaughan, Ally Venable, Willie Weeks and Kim Wilson.

The celebration is expected to showcase Buddy Guy’s enormous impact on blues, rock, and modern guitar music. As a pioneer of Chicago’s West Side blues sound, Guy helped shape generations of musicians and earned admiration from artists across the world.
The blues legend continues to receive recognition for his lasting contributions to music and culture. In recent years, he appeared in Ryan Coogler’s Oscar-winning film Sinners and was honored at Variety’s Hitmakers event.
Guy’s accomplishments include induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, nine Grammy Awards, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, 38 Blues Music Awards, the Presidential National Medal of Arts and the Kennedy Center Honor. His latest album, Ain’t Done With the Blues, released in 2025, added another Grammy win to his collection.
Tickets for the event go on sale to the general public on Friday at 10 a.m. ET, with presale access already underway.
