ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The sunshine made a return and it’ll stick around into Wednesday. A big area of high pressure will control our weather for the next 24-36 hours. This means we’ll stay dry and comfortable Tuesday night into Wednesday. Temperatures dip into the mid 50s Wednesday morning with plenty of sunshine to start. Humidity stays low and we’ll climb into the mid and upper 70s with just a few clouds from time to time.
Our next system moves in on Thursday. A warm front will bring some showers and a period of rain during the morning. We’ll see a lull in the precipitation, followed by some scattered afternoon storms. At this point, we’re “green” on the Threat Tracker, but we’re monitoring the intensity and timing of the storms. There may be a few gusty late afternoon storms, especially in the Finger Lakes. But that will likely come down to the amount of sunshine and instability we get between the morning rain and the afternoon. We have the Jazz Festival going on, and World Cup watch parties, so if the storm threat increases or looks concerning, we’ll reevaluate and possibly go Yellow on the Threat Tracker. Check back for updates if you do have outdoor plans on Thursday afternoon and evening.
Outside of a pop up shower, Friday looks pretty good and quieter. The weekend also looks good with mainly dry weather and comfortable temperatures. Then we’ll start to warm things up into next week. A big ridge builds over the central US and begins to expand into the Northeast. We’ll warm well into the 80s with the humidity rising. This will also likely lead to an increase in showers and some storms by the second half of next week.
