Rohit Sharma has been conferred with the Padma Shri award, India’s fourth-highest civilian award. The former India men’s cricket team all-format captain was presented with the honour by President Droupadi Murmu at the Padma Awards 2026 during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on June 23.

A total of 65 honours were conferred during the second phase of the investiture proceedings. In the first phase, on May 26, Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur was conferred with the Padma Shri award. Seven other athletes – in tennis, field hockey, athletics, martial arts, and wrestling – were among the recipients.

    Rohit is one of five Indian cricketers to play over 500 matches and the fifth-most-capped captain. The opener has the fourth-most runs (20,252) across formats, the third-most in ODI cricket (11,720), and the most in T20I cricket (4,231). However, his biggest accomplishment is winning the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025 as India’s captain.
