A search was underway on Monday evening along Lake Michigan in Michigan City, Indiana, after a child was seen entering the water and not resurfacing, police said.
In a Facebook post, the Michigan City Police Department said officers responded to a possible drowning at Washington Park Beach at 5:38 p.m. Bystanders reported seeing a child wearing red shorts enter the water on the east side of the catwalk, south of the lighthouse. Police said the child disappeared underwater, and as of late Monday, officers were working to locate them.
Police said the incident remained ongoing, and more details will be provided when they become available.
