Sherlock icon and Rivals favourite confirmed for Christmas TV outing with beloved childrens character

Channel 4 has announced the all-star voice cast for its animated Christmas special Mog’s Bad Thing, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Katherine Parkinson among the famous faces.

Cumberbatch (Sherlock) will reprise his role as Mr Thomas in the seasonal special, which is based on Judith Kerr’s picture book of the same name, while Parkinson (Rivals) has joined the cast as Mrs Ramsbottom.

Other returning cast members – who previously appeared in Channel 4’s animated special Mog’s Christmas – include Claire Foy (The Crown) as Mrs Thomas, Adjoa Andoh (Bridgerton) as the narrator, Amelie Law as Debbie and Teddy Skelton as Nicky.

Meanwhile, alongside Parkinson, other new additions include John Thomson (Break Clause) as Mr Bunce, Mawaan Rizwan (Juice) as Ali and Amelia Theodorou as Amy.

The special will once again follow Mog, the lovable family tabby cat with a penchant for mischief.

“The family are hosting a cat show in their garden which should be Mog’s chance to shine, but in all the excitement she does a ‘bad thing’ which means she hides in the attic feeling sorry for herself and misses the start of the show,” the synopsis teases.

“Can Mog find a way to leave her hiding place, make her family proud and save the day?”

As with Mog’s Christmas, Mog’s Bad Thing is being written by Joanna Harrison based on Kerr’s books and directed by Robin Shaw (The Tiger Who Came to Tea), with Ruth Fielding and Camilla Deakin producing for Lupus Films.
