Brewster made a public message to a review on X on June 20. "Hello critic Shealyn Scott," she wrote. "You’re young. You don’t know that bad pics and bad reviews can lead to 350 people losing their jobs. Sell vintage. Work at a shelter. Do something better than what you do now. Because right now you suck."
The critic writes for ScreenRant. Brewster also posted a selfie from her trailer that day. "I’m mostly at work every day. This is my trailer. Which I get because you guys watch @criminalminds. Thank you! Everyone in our crew thanks you. Have a beautiful weekend, my friends," she wrote before apologizing.

"Hi guys, I was mean to Shealyn Scott last night and I profoundly regret it. Shame on me for insulting a human being for doing their job. I’m very sorry, Shealyn. And I’m sorry to those who follow me that you saw me behave like that. Turns out, last night, I sucked," the actress posted on X on June 21.
Brewster's angry tweet came after Scott wrote about the changes with the new show, including its TV-MA rating, which allows the characters to use more colorful language. The Paramount+ show has a shorter season with 10 episodes.

"It’s just a really beautiful thing to get to see our characters in just raw human moments, and helping each other through those has been really a joy to portray, especially in the last couple seasons."
The season also might've gotten a boost in views with Connor Storrie playing Lance Kingston. Criminal Minds: Evolution was renewed for season 20, set to stream in 2027.
