By Anya Pelshaw on SwimSwam

Washington State has added five transfers for the upcoming 2026-2027 season, the school announced last week. Adalynn Ascher arrives from Cal State East Bay, Addison Cerney arrives from CSU Bakersfield, Gracelyn Cox arrives from UNC Asheville, Natalie Holmes arrives from Boston College, and Kodi Wiman arrives from New Mexico State.

Cerney and Ascher add depth to the backstroke group. Ascher was 4th in the 100 back (56.44) and 200 back (2:04.84) at the 2026 Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships for Cal State East Bay.  At the 2026 Big West Championships, Cerney was 5th in the 200 back (1:59.26) and 9th in the 100 back (55.11). Both were lifetime bests.

Anna Rauchholz led the Washington State team in the 100 back this past season with a 52.17 while Jade Castro‘s 1:55.66 led the team in the 200 back.

Cox and Wiman will look to offset some of the loss of NCAA All-American Emily Lundgren who graduated this spring. Cox swam to a lifetime best 1:03.28 100 breast for 10th and a season best 2:19.96 in prelims (2:20.55 in finals) to finish 8th in the 200 breast at the 2026 ASUN Championships. Wiman was 3rd in the 100 breast (1:02.16), 4th in the 200 breast (2:16.74), and 7th in the 200 IM (2:03.79) at the 2026 MPSF Championships. She has lifetime bests of a 1:01.71 in the 100 breast and a 2:12.42 in the 200 breast.

Lundgren led the team with a 59.42 100 breast and a 2:07.04 200 breast while rising junior Ashlyn Hernandez was 2nd on the roster with a 1:00.77 100 breast and a 2:11.39 200 breast. Lundgren scored two points at 2026 NCAAs.

Holmes swam to season bests in numerous events at the 2026 ACC Championships. Holmes swam to a 2:07.41 in the 200 IM, 4:31.34 in the 400 IM, and a 52.37 in the 100 free. The Austin, Texas native has lifetime bests of a 2:05.57 200 IM and a 4:26.00 400 IM. Lundgren was one of two sub-2:00 200 IMers for the team this past season.

Lundgren and sprinter Darcy Revitt represented the team at the 2026 NCAA Championships where the team finished 41st overall. They were 2nd at the 2026 Mountain West Championships with 1102.5 points, finishing only behind San Diego State’s 1367.5 points.
