Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Evanston, Illinois native Vanessa Alvarado has pledged to Boston College as a member of the Eagles’ 2026 recruiting class.
Alvarado wrote the following regarding her commitment.
I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at Boston College!! I would like to thank my family, coaches, teammates, and friends for their support throughout the years. I would also like to thank Coach Dara and Coach Bruno for this amazing opportunity. GO EAGLES!!
Alvarado represents NASA Wildcat Aquatics, but is originally from Puerto Rico, where she represents Nadadores Fernando Delgado. Last August, Alvarado represented Puerto Rico at the Junior Pan American Games (LCM). At that meet, she made finals in a pair of events, finishing 12th in the 200 butterfly (2:27.85) and 14th in the 200 IM (2:29.11).
About two months after that meet, she competed at the Westmont Stop of the World Cup (SCM), with her top finish coming in the 100 fly in 1:03.24. She also finished 30th in the 50 fly (29.14) and 38th in the 200 IM (2:24.04).
As for Alvarado’s best time in yards, both of her butterfly bests came at the NCSA Spring Championships, though they came a year apart. In the 200 fly, Alvarado holds a best time of 2:02.88 from 2024, while her 100 fly came in March of 2025 in 55.02. She also possesses solid IM skills, with a 200 IM career best of 2:05.93 from the Speedo Grand Challenge in November of 2025 and a 400 IM best of 4:29.76 from this past January.

At those championships, Alvarado’s best times would have translated to 37th place in the 200 fly, 49th in the 100 fly, and 53rd in the 200 IM.
Many of Alvarado’s best times come from a year ago or earlier, but if she can lower some of those bests when she joins Boston College, she could be a solid fly and mid-distance swimmer for years to come within the ACC.
Alvarado joins Grace Petrakis, Caroline Kilty, Meg Dahlin, Melissa Geiger, Kelci Walsh, Carley Kaplan, and Avery Cunneen in a packed 2026 recruiting class.
