Ahmedabad/Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s rising swimming sensation Mannata Mishra continued her remarkable ascent on the national stage by clinching a bronze medal in the Women’s 200m Breaststroke event at the 79th Senior National Aquatic Championship 2026 in Ahmedabad.
The talented swimmer clocked an impressive 2:40.64 to secure the bronze, adding yet another national-level accolade to her rapidly expanding list of achievements.
The medal marks another proud moment for Odisha’s swimming fraternity, which has been consistently making its presence felt in national competitions.
The Odisha Sports & Youth Services Department congratulated Mannata on her outstanding performance at the championships.
Notably, Mannata scripted history in 2024 by becoming the first swimmer from Odisha to win a Group-I gold medal at the Junior National Championships in the 100m Breaststroke. She has since enjoyed sustained success at the senior level, winning gold and silver medals at the 77th Senior Nationals in 2024, two silver medals at the 78th edition in 2025, and now a bronze at the 79th championship.
In December 2024, Mannata shattered the senior national record in the 100m Breaststroke (short course) with a stunning timing of 1:12.90 in South Africa, becoming the youngest Indian swimmer to achieve the feat. She also won a silver medal in the 200m Breaststroke at the inaugural BIMSTEC Aquatics Championships in 2024.
Earlier in her career, Mannata had showcased her immense potential by winning five gold medals at the 60th Odisha State Swimming Championship in 2019.
