In the first match of the ODI series, Gill remained unbeaten for 84 runs, and in the second game, he showed his peak game with a masterful 154-run knock at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
For the third and final fixture against Afghanistan, he did not come to bat as Yashasvai Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer accomplished the task for the team. Shubman Gill is pleased with the performance
The skipper sounded pleased with the effort his team showed in the series. After the third match at Chepauk, Shubman Gill said that they ticked a lot of boxes. One of the aims they had was to capture the middle overs games with the bat and with the ball; they did both with precision in the competition.
A lot of the boxes are ticked. We spoke about keeping the intensity in the middle overs, and some of the things that we also spoke about were how we can keep creating those opportunities in the middle overs as a bowling unit and as a batting unit, how we can keep pushing for the extra runs in the middle overs, and I think a lot of those boxes were ticked.
