Back in 2002, the world lost the iconic Waylon Jennings, a legendary musician who defined the outlaw country movement, which gave us some of the best music the genre ever has. Jennings left quite the legacy behind, with legendary songs, albums, and an indelible mark on the music industry. One of the best parts of that legacy has been his son, Shooter Jennings.
Shooter is the youngest of Jennings' children, and comes from a musician family. His mother is Jessi Colter, an accomplished country musician in her own right. Clearly, the musical environment Shooter was born into left quite an impact.
Shooter has been a musician pretty much his whole life, following in his dad's footsteps and bouncing between several groups and projects over the years. He has no doubt carved a path of his own in the industry, but that won't erase the family bond he carries to this day. In a resurfaced interview clip from Dillon Weldon, Jennings opens up about the way his father treated him and the relationship they have.

He went on to tell stories of a very standard, American upbringing, filled with disputes over school, Halloween parties, and a close familial bond that we can all relate to.
At the end of the clip, we see Shooter get emotional. There's a closeness there that is really wonderful to see. The music business can be hard on a family, but clearly no bonds were broken here. Fans agreed, showing their love and support for Shooter.
"Shooter, please keep telling these stories! There's a million of us out here that want to hear them."
"That’s why I love Shooter Jennings and love his parents."
"Shooter is such a gift from his dad."
We're all lucky to have been blessed with this musical family. What a treat to have these songs and these emotions last forever in the songs both of these talented musicians crafted.
