For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Next fall, Alexia Brockman will be swapping out the shores of Lake Michigan for the banks of the river Charles, as the Chicago native has committed to the admissions process* for Harvard University in 2027. Speaking about her decision Brockman said,

I’m thrilled to announce my commitment to the admissions process at Harvard University! I’m incredibly grateful to my family, friends, and coaches—especially Coaches Dave, Justin, Ethan, and Juan—for their constant support and guidance over the years. A special thank you as well to Coaches Amanda and Geordie for this amazing opportunity. I can’t wait to be part of such an incredible team. Go Crimson!!

Brockman currently represents the Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club and at March’s West Fargo Speedo Sectionals, made multiple finals. The rising high school senior finished 10th in the 50 free (23.99), after having won a swim-off for a spot in the final, going from her prelims mark of 24.11 to a swim-off time of 23.84. She also made the finals of the 100 back, placing 8th in a time of 56.50.

A week earlier at the Illinois Senior Champs, Brockman did not place lower than 8th place in the five events she contested, with her 23.51 PB in the 50 free finishing 4th, equaling her results in the 100 free, where she was 51.76 in finals, after having gone 51.59 in prelims. In addition to those results, Brockman finished 7th in the 200 free (1:54.13), 8th in the 100 breast (1:06.27), and 5th in the 200 IM (2:04.53).

The Chicagoan also has international success, as Brockmann competed for Elite Swim Club at the Selectivo a Eventos Internacionales in Mexico, back in April of 2025. In Tijuana, she placed 2nd in the 100 back in the 17-18 A-Final, hitting a personal best of 1:06.11. She also finished 5th in the 17-18 final in the 200 IM, notching another personal best of 2:27.19.

    Best SCY Times:

    50 Free – 23.51 100 Free – 51.43 200 Free – 1:52.85 100 Back – 55.62 200 Back – 2:01.07 200 IM – 2:04.53

Brockmann is set to join Harvard in a year’s time, setting foot in Cambridge in the fall of 2027. This past NCAA, the Harvard women finished 3rd at the Ivy League Championships, scoring 1153.5 pints, just 50.5 points shy of the runners-up UPenn. The Crimson did not score at NCAAs, but did send a contingent of four athletes, with Anya Mostek‘s 23rd placed in the 200 back representing the high-water mark for the team.

While she still has a year to improve, Brockmann’s times would still have a strong impact for Harvard. Her personal bests in the 50 free and 100 free, would have been the 5th fastest performances at Ivies for the Crimson, ranking 29th and tied for 30th this past season. Her 200 free time of 1:52.85 would have also broken the top 30, but it is her backstroke times that will pay dividends in the future and are set to score points. In the 100 back, her best of 55.62 would have ranked 21st in prelims, earning her a spot in the scoring C-final. Her 200 back time (2:01.07) would have also landed Brockmann a spot in C-final, coming in at 21st as well.

Mostek has since graduated and Blythe Wieclawek, 8th in the 100 back at Ivies and a rising senior, were the only two swimmers for Harvard to compete in the event, so Brockmann’s addition could not come any sooner.

Brockmann likely won’t be the lone entrant in the backstroke events, as in the class above her, Frances Muir of Minesota owns a Personal Best of 2:00.19 in the 200 back. In Brockmann’s class of 2027, fellow recruit Serena Jourdy of New York has PBs of 55.54 and 2:01.79 in the backstroke events, and Pennsylvania’s Amelia Gipson joins them in scoring range with bests of 55.34 and 1:58.23. The trio are joined in the class by Grace McCarthy of North Carolina and Charlotte Duijser of Ohio.

*Note: A verbal commitment between an Ivy League coach and a prospective student-athlete is not an offer of admission, as only the Admission Office has that authority. The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.
