The International Cricket Council (ICC) has played no role in the sanctions, and it’s the SLC, which isn’t pleased with the conduct of Sri Lankan players on home soil against visitors, that has prompted the punishment. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) won’t take any action against Sooryavanshi or India A captain Tilak Varma, who argued with the on-field umpires on multiple occasions in the final stages of the India A vs Sri Lanka match. However, if the ICC gets involved, both can be fined and handed demerit points for breaching the code of conduct.
“We will let our players concentrate on the tournament, and they should not be distracted by any collateral issues,” BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia told Sportstar.
