Turkish swimmer Alisa Enercan has announced her commitment to swim for Virginia Tech beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Virginia Tech! I’d like to sincerely thank Coach Mason, Coach Sergio, and the entire Virginia Tech coaching staff for believing in me and providing me with this incredible opportunity. I am honored to become part of the Hokie family and cannot wait to begin this new chapter. I’d like to thank my family & friends for their endless support throughout this journey. I am also deeply grateful to my coaches, Boran Erdugan, Gjon Shyti, and Psk. Cansu Buket Tokat, for their guidance, encouragement, and dedication to helping me grow both as an athlete and as a person. I am excited for what the future holds and for the goals we will achieve at Virginia Tech. Stay tuned for the next chapter. “Better Today, Better Tomorrow.” Go Hokies!
A native of Istanbul, Enercan trains year-round with Enka Spor Kulübü, where she primarily specializes in middle-distance freestyle and butterfly.
Enercan set her short course meter personal bests at the Türkiye Sportif Kulüpler Genç ve Açık Yaş Şampiyonası in late December, clocking 2:03.16 in the 200m free, 4:17.15 in the 400m free, and 2:11.38 in the 200m fly. Though the long course season is still underway, she has already bettered all of her PBs across various Turkish club meets, going 2:11.95 in the 200 fly at the Multinations Junior Meet in March, 4:19.29 in the 400m free at the Türkiye Genç Yıldız ve Açık Yaş Milli Takım Seçmeleri in April, and 2:03.28 in the 200m free at the Türkiye Kulüpler Arası Uzun Kulvar Şampiyonası in May.

200 Freestyle: 2:03.16/2:03.28 (1:48.18) 400/500 Freestyle: 4:17.15/4:19.29 (4:50.52) 200 Butterfly: 2:11.38/2:11.95 (1:56.35)A Division I program, Virginia Tech competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference, with the women’s team placing ninth out of 15 teams at the conference championships this past season. Enercan’s converted time in the 200 fly would have made the ‘B’ final at the meet, while her 200 free and 500 free PBs are a bit outside the cutoffs of 1:46.88 and 4:46.29. Given that she still has two full seasons of training to go before her first conference meet, she could arrive on campus as an immediate ‘A’ final threat.
Enercan joins Benedetta Boscaro, Jillian Wiersema, Claire Roussakis, and Margot Levesque in committing to the Hokies’ class of 2031 so far.
