Michigan Adds Another Diving Transfer As Rebecca Ciancaglini Commits From Cal

Rebecca Ciancaglini is the latest diving transfer to announce they will join the Michigan Wolverines for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Ciancaglini just finished her sophomore season at Cal. 

    Ciancaglini finished 20th in the 1 meter at the 2026 ACC Championships with a score of 239.15. She only competed in three meets this past season. 

    She was 27th in the 1 meter, 32nd in the 3 meter, and 42nd in the platform event at the 2025 ACC Championships during her freshman season. She is originally from Rome, Italy and was runner-up in the 1 meter at both the 2023 and 2024 European Junior Championships.

    The Michigan women captured the 2026 Big Ten title and went on to finish 6th at the 2026 NCAA Championships. Senior Kiarra Milligan was the only diver for the Michigan women at 2026 NCAAs as she scored 11 individual points with an 11th place finish in the 1 meter event and a 12th place finish in the 3 meter event.

    Michigan will enter its second season under head diving coach Brandon Loschiavo. Loschiavo won the NCAA title in the platform event as a senior at Purdue during his collegiate career and also was a three time Big Ten Champion in the platform event. Loschiavo also represented the US at the 2020 and 2024 Paris Olympics in the 10 meter event. Fellow NCAA Champion Lyle Yost is an assistant coach on the Michigan staff and specialized in the 1 meter event.

    Ciancaglini is the latest transfer into Michigan, as the swimming side of the program gained Haley McDonald from Texas, Kamryn Meskill from UNC, and Julia Strojnowska from Auburn. All three have competed at NCAAs. The diving side of the program gained Mia Henninger from Missouri and Nina Schwab from D3 Carleton. Henninger’s strongest in the platform event while Schwab’s strongest event is the 1 meter. The men’s program gained Jaxon Bowshire from Texas A&M.
