HOPEWELL, N.Y. — Another local brewery is getting ready to close up shop.
Naked Dove Brewing in Hopewell announced it will pour its last pint this Sunday. It comes after more than 15 years of business.
“This decision was not easy, but it is the right time for us to close this chapter,” the brewery said in its Facebook post.
It’s unclear why the brewery is making the decision to shut down, but it follows a recent trend in our region.
Other local breweries that have closed
Within the last year, half a dozen breweries in the area have closed. According to the Brewers Association, brewery closures have outpaced openings since 2024.
Black Button
Black Button Distilling announced last July it would be closing. The company said the buildout of a new facility happened during a “downturn in the alcohol market.”

In October, the distillery announced it will continue to produce and sell products after an investment from a company out of Kentucky, but the tasting room remained closed.

The new owners were just recently sued by the landlord of the distillery’s University Avenue facility after the landlord claimed it didn’t pay rent.

Heroes
Just a few days after Black Button announced its closure, Heroes Brewing Company on Atlantic Avenue said it would be closing its doors permanently.
One of the co-founders said the closure was due to industry challenges.

K2 Bros
The brewery in Walworth announced its closure last March. The company cited rising ingredient and materials costs, along with lower-than-expected sales as the cause.

Beers of the World
Beers of the World in Henrietta also announced in January it would be closing. The company said the closure was due to changes in the economy and beer industry.
The location in Batavia is still open.

How are other local breweries coping?
Breweries like Strangebird and Three Heads Brewing have expanded what they offer to help adapt to market challenges.
Strangebird offers non-alcoholic drinks, such as kombucha, and a broad food menu to draw customers in.
