ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We’re ending the work week and kicking off the weekend on a nice note, with a clearing sky Friday night into Saturday. Dew points are dropping, so humidity levels are becoming much more comfortable again. One thing to watch in the sky tonight is the potential for the Northern Lights. There’s a chance the aurora may make an appearance tonight, though forecast them is very, very fickle. Still, if the aurora does happen, our sky conditions should cooperate with the sky becoming mainly clear.
Saturday will start off in the lower 60s, peaking in the lower 80s. Again, humidity will be lower, so it’ll be a beautiful start to the weekend with plenty of sunshine.
Sunday will start off dry, but we’re tracking our next cold front by midday into the afternoon. The timing of the front may help to dictate the intensity of any storms that develop. At this point, we’re “green” on the Threat Tracker, but we’ll monitor the timing and strength of those storms, and if they look like they’ll be an issue, we’ll go ahead and issue a Yellow Alert to keep a close eye on the forecast for any changes.
Following Sunday’s cold front, we’ll spend much of next week with cooler than average temperatures, with most days in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
