Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli has confirmed an extension to its long-running deal that will keep it as the sport’s sole tyre provider until the end of 2028.
The FIA has activated an option within the current agreement, ensuring continuity at a time when the sport is preparing for continued technical development and regulatory refinement.
The move preserves one of the sport’s most established partnerships, with Pirelli remaining a constant presence through changing eras of machinery and competition.
A partnership built on innovation and endurance
Pirelli’s involvement in Formula 1 stretches well beyond a simple supply arrangement. With more than 500 Grands Prix already to its name, the Italian manufacturer has become deeply embedded in the sport’s technological and competitive fabric, playing a central role in performance strategy across the grid.
Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice Chairman of Pirelli, highlighted both the historical significance and forward-looking ambition behind the extension:
“We are pleased to extend our presence in Formula 1 by a further year, until 2028, thanks to the agreement reached with the FIA – under the leadership of its President Mohammed Ben Sulayem – and with Formula 1,” said Tronchetti Provera.

The extension was also welcomed by Formula 1 leadership, who emphasised the importance of continuity as the sport continues to evolve its technical and sporting direction.
F1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali praised the depth of the partnership and the role Pirelli plays in supporting both performance and spectacle:
