Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimedThursday that it launched 12 ballistic missiles targeting the Al-Azraq air basein Jordan, striking positions where American F-35, F-16, and F-15 fighteraircraft were stationed.
The IRGC said the strikes were carried out in retaliationfor US attacks on sites inside Iran, including a recreational facility, anindustrial complex, and areas near military installations around Karaj,Nazarabad, and Pishva, as well as a local IRGC base. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces had"completed self-defence strikes against Iran," targeting Iranian airdefense systems, ground control stations, and surveillance radar sites near theStrait of Hormuz using precision munitions from US Air Force and Navy fighterjets. CENTCOM described the operation as a proportional response to attacks onUS forces and international commercial shipping transiting regional waters.
The IRGC warned that operations would continue for aslong as what it called enemy aggression persists. US President Donald Trumpsaid Iran would "pay the price" for failing to reach a negotiatedagreement, according to statements carried by multiple outlets.
