ROCHESTER, N.Y. — On Wednesday, Rochester Regional Health held a volunteer CPR training event ahead of the 23rd annual Rochester International Jazz Festival.

The event aimed to empower the community to learn how to do CPR.

“When you do effective chest compressions with the CPR, you can increase someone’s, basically double or triple someone’s survival rate,” said Lekeyah Wilson, vice president of community engagement and social impact at Rochester Regional Health.

Wilson said people learned how to do CPR through a 911 call.

At the upcoming festival, which starts on Friday, June 19, though Saturday, June 27, First Aid kits, cooling tents, and water stations will be available.
