GALEN, N.Y. — A person has been exposed to rabies after Wayne County Public Health Officials say a barn cat in Galen tested positive for the virus.
The cat tested positive on June 9. The person exposed is being treated, public health officials say.
This follows the confirmation of a rabid domestic cat and a rabid racoon in the Lyons and Sodus area a week before, according to officials.

There will be two rabies vaccination clinics for domestic pets in Wayne County. The first one will be held on Thursday, June 25 from 6-8p.m. at the Lyons School District bus garage.
The next one will be held on Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Town of Wolcott Highway Department. Public health officials say this one is already full. People who aren’t able to keep an appointment are asked to call the office at (315) 946-5749.
These clinics are open to people living in Wayne County. Pre-registration is required by calling the office, or by registering here.
Officials are urging people to avoid wildlife and to make sure all domestic cats, dogs, and ferrets are vaccinated for rabies.
