19 sport romance novels that are even steamier than Off Campus

Like the rest of the world, we’ve been obsessed with the Off Campus TV adaptation since it came out. Hannah singing karaoke lives rent-free in our heads right now, as does Allie’s body glitter, that conversation in the gym, and a lot of NSFW moments…

Before we were obsessed with Off Campus, our attention was given solely to Heated Rivalry, another hockey love story; 2026 is swiftly turning out to be the year of sports romances, and we’re certainly not complaining.

Romance novels make you believe in true love, and sports romance novels make you believe in all of that… with a sexy football player who could bench your bodyweight. We’re firmly in our sports romance era. So, as we settle in for the agonising wait until Off Campus season two, or until we see our beloved hockey boys again, here are 19 other sports romance books to keep you busy.

    The Score by Elle Kennedy

What better person to fill the Off Campus-sized hole in your heart than the author extraordinaire herself? We won't recommend the Off Campus book that inspired season 1, but instead the third instalment in the series: The Score. We already met (and fell in love with) Allie and Dean in the first season, so why not dive back into their delicious storyline?

It's meant to be just rebound sex, just meaningless hook-ups, just a distraction... But having met the feisty, lovable Allie, we know that's never going to be the case. Can she really steal Briar's resident ladies' man away from his wild ways? Can he convince her to give him a real chance? Can they settle the score?

You'll have to read to find out, and then binge the entire Off Campus series pronto.

    Game Changer by Rachel Reid

So you loved Heated Rivalry season 1 and now need something to read? Well, it might surprise you to learn that Heated Rivalry is actually book two in Rachel Reid's Game Changer series. That means you can start with the book that came before it, featuring characters you already met in that first season.

Pro hockey star Scott Hunter knows a good thing when he sees it. So when a smoothie made by juice bar barista Kip Grady coincides with Scott finally breaking his on-ice slump, he's determined to recreate the magic... and get to know the sexy, funny guy behind the counter. Before long, they're hooking up in secret. Scott can't risk the world finding out about his private life, but Kip is getting tired of being kept a secret.

Can Scott find the courage to be honest about who he is? Or will the pressure of life in the spotlight cost him the best thing that's ever happened to him?

Not ready to put down the hockey stick just yet? Don't fret, we can stay on the ice a little longer with Sarina Bowen's New York Legends series. The second instalment in the USA Today bestselling series follows Darcy, assistant to the GM of the NY Legends hockey team. After accidentally sending team captain Eric a very naughty DM, the pair realise they're both attending the same upcoming wedding. To avoid awkward questions about their love lives, Darcy and Eric agree to fake date. Obviously, nothing could possibly go wrong when business and pleasure collide... said no one ever.

If you loved the fake-dating trope in Off Campus, you'll adore Big Stick Energy.

Behind the Net by Stephanie Archer

One trope we can’t resist in romance is grumpy and sunshine. It’s just so relatable, as we all know plenty of black cat and golden retriever couples. That, combined with mandatory proximity so they’re truly forced to dwell in their differences? Sign us up immediately.

Pippa takes a job as Jamie’s assistant. He’s a star NHL player and her high school crush. He’s got a massive ego and has her move in to be available for his every need. But somewhere along the way, he softens for her, spoils her, and encourages her creativity. Before she knows it, Pippa is writing songs again — perfect for fans of Elle’s creative journey in Off Campus.

But can things stay professional? Should they? Let’s find out.

On Thin Ice by S Rena

If you particularly appreciated the darker sides of Off Campus but want to ramp up the spice even more, then we’ve got you covered with On Thin Ice by S Rena. Don’t say we didn’t warn you about this one.

This ice hockey romance follows Sam, who is granted a scholarship to Sovereign Kings University. She doesn’t have time for distractions and is working hard to get her brother out of her difficult home life. But after she accidentally injures one of the hockey team’s star players, she becomes the team’s target. Three members in particular seem determined to punish her. But alongside all that hatred, there’s lust… a lot of it. Sam can’t risk falling for a hockey player right now, let alone three.

Yep, we’ve got a why-choose romance novel on our hands.

If one of your favourite aspects of Off Campus was Garrett helping Elle to reclaim her pleasure — we know we enjoyed it — then you need to add Power Play to your TBR list.

Piper’s life isn’t going the way she planned. She’s divorced, feeling stuck in her professional life, and terrified of re-entering the world of dating. So she does what we all should: focuses on something in her control. In her case, that’s learning how to be really good in the bedroom. Enter Liam, the star NHL goalie, who knows how to make that happen. It’s a casual and easy agreement… until a road trip to Vegas has them waking up with a wicked hangover and wedding rings. It’s just a fake marriage-with-benefits, right?

This connection might just rival Elle and Garrett…

Hard to Handle by K Bromberg

Who can resist a second-chance romance? Not us, that’s for sure. Hunter Maddox (of course he’s called that) is the most wanted man in hockey, and the only man who has ever broken Dekker Kincade’s heart. Now she needs to sign him to her agency to save the business. Meanwhile, Hunter is trying to keep a lid on his inner demons and ignore the regret that swirls around seeing 'the one that got away'. Safe to say, both their careers are on the line, as well as their hearts.

There’s a lot of hockey romance books out there, as you’re probably realising from this list, so it’s particularly impressive when someone manages to do something unique in the genre. This is more than just a sports romance, it’s a heartwarming story about injury rehabilitation, identity struggles, and healing.

Riley Mitchell’s life changes in one night. The star NHL player gets into a car accident and loses his right leg. Who is he away from the ice? How can he live without the thing he loves most?

Lexi Armstrong is the trainer assigned to his rehabilitation, and she’s determined to help him mentally as well as physically. But a friends-with-benefits arrangement wasn’t exactly what the doctor ordered…

    Icebreaker by Hannah Grace

What if they’re both on the ice…?

Anastasia Allen has worked her entire life for a shot at Team USA. It looks like everything is going according to plan when she gets a full scholarship to the University of California, Maple Hills, and lands a place on the competitive figure skating team.

Nothing will stand in her way, not even the captain of the hockey team, Nate Hawkins.

Nate’s focus as team captain is on keeping his team on the ice, which is tricky when a facilities mishap means they’re forced to share a rink with the figure skating team, including Anastasia, who clearly can’t stand him.

But when Anastasia’s skating partner faces an uncertain future, she may have to look to Nate to take her shot. This is a sports romance you definitely don’t want to miss.

Let’s steer off the ice rink and onto the pitch. Who’s ready for some grass stains in all the wrong places?

This USA Today bestseller follows Rory St James, Prescott College’s rugby team equipment manager (as well as the coach’s daughter) and new British bad boy rugby player Cillian Cairney. Rory doesn’t have a great track record with guys and proposes a mutually beneficial arrangement with Cillian: she’ll help ensure the team accepts him if, in exchange, he teaches her how to get a guy. Yeah, we’ve seen that film before! Just like Hannah and Garrett in Off Campus, their undeniable chemistry begins to blur all the lines.

Everything for You by Chloe Liese

Queer romance. Check. Queer sports romance. Check. Queer sports romance that’s enemies-to-lovers. Check! Nope, this isn’t Heated Rivalry, although it’s bound to appeal to fans of the hot hockey show. Instead, we’re on the football pitches for this one.

Gavin and Oliver have been teammates for two years and have hated each other for pretty much the entire time. They manage to avoid each other until they become co-captains. It quickly turns out that burning hatred might be covering another kind of intense feeling.

Just like Off Campus, Everything for You includes great side characters that support and influence the story. Plus, it’s a delicious slow burn, so you’ll have to work for those spicy pages.

The Right Move by Liz Tomforde

Fake dating trope alert! For some reason, pretend relationships work so well in sports romances. This time it’s Ryan, the newest captain of the Devils, Chicago’s NBA team, and Indy, his sister’s best friend who has just moved into his apartment. Ryan is criticised for being an unapproachable lone wolf with no work-life balance, so his new extroverted, hot roommate seems like the perfect solution. Meanwhile, Indy needs a date to an upcoming wedding where her ex-boyfriend will be in attendance — and he just so happens to be Ryan’s biggest fan. But living under one roof, can things really stay platonic?

This is quite the change from Off Campus, but maybe that’ll be refreshing. We’re in the world of high school basketball for Anita Kelly’s How You Get the Girl. Coach Julie Parker has a smart-mouthed teen join her basketball team, and soon enough she meets their new foster parent: a super-hot ex-WNBA baller and star of Julie’s fantasies. Elle is cool, confident, and totally out of her league. But Elle agrees to step in as an assistant coach, and soon she’s also helping Julie become more confident with dating.

Before long, the lines are getting blurred, and they have to decide if they’ll get off the sidelines.

The Change Up by Meghan Quinn

Maddox Paige is the bad boy of baseball, except when it comes to his best friend Kinsley, who brings out his softer side. They’re opposites that have always made it work. But when Kinsley needs a place to stay and Maddox gladly offers his, his feelings start to change in the close proximity. Maddox tries to avoid her, and the feelings that could ruin their entire friendship. This isn’t just a friends-to-lovers (friends-to-roommates) story, it’s about how two completely different people can slot together, and the gift of being truly seen by someone.

Oh, and it’s hot. Trust us, it’s hot.

Enemies to lovers on the pickleball court? Your serve.

Bex Martin’s racquet club is her entire world. But the business she inherited from her mother has started to feel more like a sinking ship. That is, until Nikolaus Karras — a former tennis bad boy with an ego as big as his serve — makes himself at home on her courts.

Niko has something to prove, and a high-stakes pickleball tournament is just what he needs to get back in the game after a career-ending injury. When he finally sets his ego aside to ask for Bex’s help, everyone assumes they’re a couple… on and off the court.

She needs the prize money and he needs to restore his reputation. Not only are they fake dating, but they’re doubles partners for the foreseeable future. Match point.

All to Play For by Josie Juniper

If you had to time your Off Campus episodes to make sure you didn’t miss a single F1 race, then we’ve got the next book for you. Frontrunners is Josie Juniper’s sports romance series that takes place in the world of F1. But we’re particularly excited about her third instalment, All to Play For, as it features a female F1 driver. Yep, this sports romance has the woman as the star, and the man off track.

The unfairly gorgeous and spoiled journalist and popular blogger Alexander Laskaris seems to have it out for Sage, the new driver for the Emerald F1 team and the only female driver on the grid. When one of his blog posts goes too far, Alexander finds himself working for Emerald as penance, and his new boss is none other than Sage herself. As they get to know each other, they realise there’s more than the face they present to the world. But Sage is determined to be the first woman to win a Grand Prix, and she won’t let any man come in the way.

The Dating Playbook by Farrah Rochon

Taylor Powell is a personal trainer who knows how to kick her clients into shape. Unfortunately, her bills are piling up, rent is due, and the money situation is dire. She needs a miracle, and it turns out that miracle is called Jamar Dixon. The oh-so-fine former footballer wants back into the NFL, and he wants Taylor to train him. There’s just one catch: no one can know what they’re doing. But when they’re accidentally outed as a couple, Taylor’s game plan is turned completely upside down. Is Jamar just playing to win… or is he playing for keeps?

On the pitch, Logan Ward is a star football player. Off the pitch, he’s the legal guardian to his four younger sisters. But when one of them lands in hospital, his brother has the chance he needs to challenge Logan for custody. Legal counsel says there’s only one thing Logan can do: find himself a wife.

Meanwhile, Paige McKinney has just walked away from a modelling career and suddenly she’s claiming to be this stranger’s fiancée at the hospital just to return his cell phone.

A bargain is struck, and a fake marriage is the perfect solution. But how long can it stay fake? And what happens when the feelings get a little too real?

The Friend Zone by Kristen Callihan

People can have mixed feelings about multimedia novels, but sometimes texting or email correspondence really builds the tension in a story. And in this digital age, it’s all too believable that two people would fall in love that way.

The last thing star tight end Gray Grayson wants to do is drive his agent’s daughter’s hot-pink car. But he needs the wheels and she’s studying abroad. Ivy Mackenzie texts him to warn him off any funny business in her car, and the gates are opened to ongoing messaging that gets flirtier and flirtier. But Gray is off-limits to Ivy, as she would never get involved with one of her father’s clients… or would she?
