ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Wegmans has launched its annual “Fill the Bus” campaign to support Foodlink as many kids lose access to school meals for the summer.
Customers can donate $3, $5 or any amount at checkout through June 17. All donations go directly to Foodlink to help fund summer feeding programs, school pantries and weekend meal support.
Foodlink says demand for assistance rises in the summer when more families need help.
“As we know, when summer hits, school meals disappear and families have to stretch their budgets and find access points to healthy foods, so Foodlink does a lot of great work with community partners to put food on the table,” said Mark Dwyer, director of marketing and communications for Foodlink.
Last year, the campaign raised more than $150,000 to help families in need across the region.
