Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Lachlan Gantt, who competed at the 2026 Pro Swim Series in Westmont, is headed to the sunshine state this fall, as he has announced his commitment to swim for the University of Tampa beginning in the fall of 2026.
“I’m honored to announce my commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at the University of Tampa. I’m so thankful for my family, friends and coaches for supporting me along the way. I also would like to thank Coaches Dave, Jim, Brian, Rod, Frank, Ehud and Coaches Bishop and Kiner for the opportunity that was given to me to represent Tampa in the following years. Go Spartans!”
Gantt recently graduated from Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Illinois; he competed for the school’s varsity swimming and diving team from his freshman year to his junior year, but did not appear on the roster as a senior. Gantt currently trains year-round with FMC Aquatic Club, where he primarily specializes in free, back and fly.
Gantt is coming off of a strong SCY campaign, having set a new personal best time in almost every single one of his events over the course of the 2025-2026 season. At the FMC Speedo Grand Challenge back in November, he turned in a series of lifetime best performances. He placed 14th in the 100 IM (53.49 – PB), 17th in the 50 free (21.29 – SB), 18th in the 50 back (24.87), 19th in the 100 free (45.59 – PB), 40th in the 200 free (1:44.52 – SB), 41st in the 500 free (4:47.96 – PB) and 42nd in the 200 fly (1:58.34 – PB). He also contested the 100 fly (54.32) and 100 back (57.20), in addition to logging a best time of 24.69 in the 50 back during prelims.
A few weeks later, Gantt lowered his best times even further at the 2025 Winter Junior Championships – West in December. He posted a lifetime best time of 20.87 in the 50 free and a lifetime best time of 45.16 in the 100 free as the leadoff on the 400 free relay.
Gantt posted a series of top swims at the 2026 Illinois Senior Championships in March, earning a second swim in all three of his individual events. He placed 7th in the 200 back (1:54.26), 8th in the 100 fly (50.98) and 9th in the 50 back (24.04), setting a lifetime best in each. He also set a personal best time of 51.16 in the 100 back during a time trial session.
At the 2026 NCSA Spring Championships, Gantt turned in yet another string of strong performances. He placed 13th in the 100 free (45.02 – PB), 18th in the 200 free (1:37.71 – PB) and 42nd in the 50 free (21.08). He also contested the 100 back (51.51), 50 fly (23.72) and 100 fly (51.11).

The Spartans sent 15 athletes to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division II Championships, where they reclaimed their NCAA title to mark their second ever NCAA Division II team victory after first winning in 2024.
Based on the results from the 2026 Sunshine State Conference Championships, Gantt would have landed in the ‘A’ final in the 200 free and the ‘B’ final in the 100 free, giving him a chance to score some points early on.
On the team itself, Gantt is poised to rank 5th in the 100 and 200 free and 6th in the 50 free, setting him up to bring added depth to the Spartans’ roster, although that does not account for the other incoming freshmen.
Gantt will be joined in Tampa by Dillon Brigman (free/IM) and Tyson Walker (breast/IM), who should both make for strong training partners over the next four years.
