A man who authorities said matched the description of a “suspicious person” in a northwest Chicago suburb died after running into a body of water Monday, police said.
Palatine police said officers and Illinois State Police troopers were attempting to stop a man they believed matched the description just before 6:15 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of East Twin Lakes Drive.
As they tried to stop him, police said he “entered a nearby body of water and did not resurface.”
Rescuers were called to the scene and the man was later found in the water and taken to an area hospital, where was later pronounced dead.
Police said an investigation is ongoing and further details would be released at a later date.
