ROCHESTER, N.Y. — State lawmakers announced new investments for Rochester and Monroe County, including a $2 million capital grant to expand Baden Street Settlement’s main campus.
At a press conference Monday, the Greater Rochester Majority State Delegation outlined plans to reduce energy and child care costs, boost housing construction and improve community spaces.
“This budget delivers on our top priority: taking care of families so they can afford to live and thrive in every corner of Monroe County,” said Assemblyman Harry Bronson.
Funding for Rochester and Monroe County includes the $300 million Rochester-Monroe Transformation Initiative, a universal child care pilot, energy rate reforms and more aid for the city of Rochester.
“This delegation has fought tirelessly to increase this funding for the city of Rochester. And when we think about our city of Rochester, we look around and we notice that we have more than 40 percent of our young people living in poverty,” said Sen. Samra Brouk.
Baden Street Settlement is a nonprofit community organization that helps people in Rochester, specially in underserved neighborhoods, meet basic needs and improve their quality of life.
