Health advocate explains Medicaid cuts coming in 2027
Ronieka Burns-Sharpe, a health advocate with the Health Education Project, discussed cuts to Medicaid coming in 2027. The changes will be similar to modifications made to the SNAP program. She says it will be devastating for people who are not prepared.
Members of the Friends of Frederick Douglass talk about Douglass’ local monument and his impact
Two members of the board of the Friends of Frederick Douglass, David Shakes and Vincent Felder, spoke about the 127th commemoration of the Frederick Douglass Monument at Highland Park. The monument is the first erected in honor of an African American in the entire U.S.
For years, the commemoration brought large crowds, but not anymore. The Friends of Frederick Douglass want to remind Rochester of Douglass’ impact by inviting the community to a commemoration service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
Mother and son ask people to join a campaign aiming to honor veterans
Lynette sat down with Sarah Fisher and her son, five-year-old Brax, who started a campaign called White Tables Across Rochester. This was the second year for the initiative.
Fisher’s husband is an Air Force veteran who served in Afghanistan. She started this as a homeschool project for her son to teach him the importance of honoring the men and women who died, are imprisoned or are missing due to their service to America. The mother and son duo are asking the community to join them.
CEO of Rochester City Soccer League talks about the development of a high-quality league for kids and teens
The show also featured a second interview with Nicole Hercules, the founder and CEO of Rochester City Soccer League, about an effort to create a high-quality soccer league in Rochester for kids and teens.
