ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We’re back to Green on the Threat Tracker as there is no risk of rain or storms today and winds will be MUCH calmer. Maximum gusts yesterday reached near 50 MPH in Rochester which did cause some sparse damage, but our winds today will be out of the northwest 15-20 MPH at most which will help to keep us cool, comfortable, and lower on the humidity scale. Clouds will increase mid-morning, but clear out especially towards the west as we enter the afternoon and this evening will be mostly sunny for everyone. Highs will be in the upper 70s, and tonight we get down to the mid 50s.
Monday will be similarly nice and a bit warmer with highs in the low 80s, and the humidity will stay tolerable. That changes Tuesday, as dew points climb into the low 70s and temperatures near 90. That means the heat index will be in the low 90s, so if you have any strenuous outdoor activities planned just be sure to limit your time outdoors and drink plenty of water.
The heat and the humidity sticks around for the second half of the week, and we expect multiple bouts of rain and possibly thunder over that timeframe. Too early to make a call on any severe weather yet, but stay tuned as we will continue to update the timing and intensity of any inclement weather.
