Winter Juniors qualifier Nicolas Lee has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at Florida State University beginning in the fall of 2027. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am incredibly thrilled and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career as a Seminole at Florida State University! This dream would not have been possible without the support of so many people. First, I want to thank my family for their being there every step of the way throughout my swimming journey. I am also extremely grateful to my coaches, especially Coach James, and my teammates, at Hillsboro Heat for helping me grow as both an athlete and a person. I also want to thank Coach Studd and the rest of the coaching staff at FSU for this incredible opportunity and believing in me. GO NOLES!!! #FearTheSpear

A rising senior at Glencoe High School in Hillsboro, Oregon, Lee currently swims year-round with the Hillsboro HEAT Swim Team. A versatile swimmer, he excels at backstroke, middle-distance freestyle, and IM.
Over the course of the 2025–26 short course season, Lee shaved about eight seconds in the 200 IM, three seconds in the 200 back, 200 free, and 500 free, a full second in the 100 back, and a few tenths in the 100 free.
Lee registered the majority of his current lifetime bests at the PN BC Premier Invitational at the end of March, clocking 47.96/1:43.71 in the 100/200 back, 1:50.92 in the 200 IM, and 45.79 in the 100 free. He set his current PBs in the middle-distance free events at Winter Juniors – West in December, where he cracked the top 50 for the first time en route to placing 32nd in the 200 free (1:38.51), 49th in the 500 free (4:29.64).

To earn a second swim at the meet, it took times of 42.67/1:34.69/4:20.07 in the 50/100/200 free, 46.71/1:42.39 in the 100/200 back, and 1:44.99 in the 200 IM, putting Lee’s current personal bests outside the cutoffs, though he has two full seasons of training ahead before his first conference meet.
Lee joins Hudson Roybal, Julian Rusk, Joey Curcio, Grady Bell, and Nicolas Kokidko in verbally committing to the Seminoles’ class of 2031 so far.
