A northwest suburban gas station canopy collapsed on Saturday for the second time in less than six months.
Around 1 a.m., the canopy over the fuel pumps at the Marathon gas station at 8 E. Main St. in Cary collapsed for reasons that authorities say remain unknown as of Saturday afternoon.
An employee shut down and secured the fuel pumps after the canopy collapsed, according to a statement from the Cary Fire Protection District.
No cars were under the canopy when it collapsed, and no injuries were reported CFPD said.
The canopy also collapsed back in early December 2025, though village administrators said that collapse — that happened after accumulating snow hit the area — was due to damage sustained in a summer storm.
