"This cut is so deep I fear it can never heal," she wrote on Instagram with a heartbreak emoji next to a sweet photo of her with Head, who died in early June from complications with pneumonia, his daughters told AP.
"Oh Tonal… I am so grateful to have had you in my life!" she continued. "I want to say a million wonderful things about you and yet I can’t seem to find the words that would do you justice. I love you so much and will miss you forever. RIP."
Friends and fans alike took to the comments to send love and support. Fellow costar Sarah Michelle Gellar wrote, "He loved you so dearly Aly," and a fan added, "You were the first person I thought about when I saw this!!! There was always something special about the onscreen relationship you all had that I knew spilled over!"
Head played Rupert Giles in the show, who served as Buffy and her best friend Willow Rosenberg (played by Hannigan)'s mentor and devoted father figure.
