One of the big games revealed at the Summer Game Fest opening showcase this year was Resident Evil Veronica, with the long-awaited remake of Code Veronica finally being announced by Capcom.
Originally released in the year 2000, Resident Evil: Code Veronica is one of the few major Resi games that hasn't already been remade for modern audiences.

The Resident Evil Veronica release date will be in 2027, Capcom has explained, with rumours pointing towards a specific chunk of the year.
According to reports online, the game could be aiming for the first quarter of 2027. If that's true, it means the game could release in January, February or March next year.
If we had to guess which of those months is most likely, we would predict February 2027. After all, we know that Capcom likes February - that's the month in which Resident Evil Requiem, the most recent game in the franchise, came out!

What to expect from Resident Evil Veronica
As for what to expect from Resident Evil Veronica, Capcom has described this as "a chilling new entry in survival horror" on the game's official website.
It's worth noting that this is not aiming to be a shot for shot remake of the original game. Returning fans will have noticed that from the trailer, which invents a whole new introductory scene featuring a French lady and a box of biscuits.
Indeed, Capcom has promised "modernised gameplay, a reimagined storyline, and vividly detailed graphics" on the aforementioned website.
Teasing the story, the site notes that "three months have passed since the biological disaster in Raccoon City. Claire Redfield, having survived along with Leon S. Kennedy and Sherry Birkin, travels to France in search of her brother, Chris Redfield.
"However, what awaits her is not a reunion with her brother, but the Umbrella special forces unit responsible for the incident. They capture Claire and transport her to a mysterious island.
"Now Claire must make a desperate attempt to escape the remote Rockfort Island, which due to another biological disaster, has transformed into a living hellscape of survival horror."
