So much for whatever last night was worth beyond a win in the Cubs’ record. Because absolutely none of it carried over to today.
The Cubs got absolutely pantsed by a quite bad Giants team today at Wrigley Field, and it was a sickening thing to watch. Edward Cabrera had a few nasty pitches in his return to the rotation, but he also got lit up when he came into the zone. The game was out of hand by the time he departed, and it only got worse from there. Only Caleb Thielbar managed to throw a clean inning; even Carson Kelly couldn’t get out of there in the 9th without first allowing a couple dingers.
The Ankin Law: “Making it Personal” Player of the Game is Matt Chapman, I suppose, with his EIGHT RBI. Tempted to give it to Giants reliever Dylan Smith for getting things over quickly in the 9th.
What a joke this game was.
