Rico Nasty has her doubts that dinosaurs ever existed. The rapper got into a debate on the Zach Sang Show Wednesday (June 3), while explaining her reasoning for denying the existence of dinosaurs before they were wiped from earth by an asteroid about 66 million years ago, according to the Natural History Museum.
Rico seemed to be skeptical after watching Netflix’s The Dinosaur documentary miniseries. “Did you see the Netflix special?” she said. “You mean to tell me something from billions, billions, billion, literally f–king billions of years ago and you dug it up — fossils — and you found all the pieces of these creatures?”
The Maryland-bred rapper continued: “When they came up with dinosaurs, they very much so came in mind that it’s just dinosaurs. Don’t we all think what was here before us? ‘Oh nothing, just dinosaurs.’ They were wiped out and you found it? Digging how deep, for how long and you found the whole thing? And you made up the names? … People didn’t even draw pictures of them. Are there any ancient photos in the pyramids of dinosaurs. They used to draw them on the wall like they did the woolly mammoth.”
The 29-year-old’s theory continued to chalk dinosaurs up to being a scheme implemented by the American government to make money through branded movies, theme park attractions, merchandise and clothing.
“You know how much money they make from dinosaurs? … Did you know that Jurassic Park was one of the biggest [movie franchises]?” she asked. “Dinosaurs don’t have no race, they’re fully branded across the world. There’s nothing that could make you hate a dinosaur … Any place in the world could sell something that is a dinosaur. The branding into this is kind of crazy.”
Rico Nasty ultimately agreed she probably should talk to a paleontologist about this before further spreading her theories. While she seemed serious arguing with Zach Sang, she attempted to downplay the discussion in a TikTok video late Thursday (June 4) as her hot takes gained traction on social media.
“Me say dinosaur not real? Crowd boo. Me be sarcastic, crowd boo,” she said in part, mimicking the speech patterns of a caveman. “Anyone else be sarcastic, crowd cheer. Me speak, crowd angry.”
Putting all of that aside, Rico Nasty is back on the music front. The “Tia Tamera” rapper released her “Rituals” single on June 2.
